The was an impressive chipset. Believe doxconn, these boards have problems. When we gave our Editor’s Choice to the SiS chipsetwe really expected to see motherboards from some of the familiar names in the motherboard market.

Single page Print Board layout With so many integrated peripherals, it takes a little work to squeeze everything onto the board. Can this budget wonder keep up with more expensive and established Athlon 64 offerings? Thinking about replacing the gigabye which seems very buggy and runs much hotter than this mobo. Foxconn is the second manufacturer to supply a SiS motherboard for review. The number of new computer products seems to grow exponentially, while the lifetime of new products becomes shorter and shorter.
First out of the gate was the ECSwhich was clearly designed to be a value board. The board doesn’t look half-bad, either. There are on-board headers for an additional four USB ports and one more Firewire port, though Foxconn doesn’t include any header hardware in the box.
Careful routing, a sheathed power supply cable, and a couple of zip ties should keep cable clutter to a minimum, but it would take less work if the power plugs lined the top edge of the board. The ECS performed well, but had modest overclocking controls and a very basic feature set.
